An amazing individual whose voyage through the care sector symbolises the incredible diversity it offers. Her journey shows the array of opportunities available, showing that anyone can create and find their own path in the world of social care!
I began as a Trainee Manageress in Hotels and Catering, staying in the industry for years while contributing to a thriving family business. Seeking new opportunities, I utilized my acquired skills to smoothly shift into the Adult Social Care Sector.
During my time as a care assistant, I provided holistic support to residents, developing my skills, knowledge, behaviours and experience in and of the sector, which supported my professional development into senior management.
Along my journey before and during my management role, I was able to gain the following qualifications, supporting me in my progression:
Level 2 CAVA
Level 2 BTEC Dementia
Level 2 BTEC Medication
Level 2 BTEC IPC
Level 2 BTEC Health and Safety
Level 3 Manual Handling Trainer
Level 3 PTTLS
Next I progressed onto the role of Home Manager, for a care home specialising in dementia. Here I was able to achieve further qualifications:
Level 3 Medication
Level 3 Health and Safety
OU Certificate in Higher Education
OU Diploma in Higher Education
Level 5 Registered Managers Award
The opportunity to move into consultancy presented itself, and I was able to use my knowledge and experience to help bring back care organisations to a good quality standard and improve their services. During this time, I completed my own CPD with the Open University on Communication and Mental Capacity.
Having achieved qualifications in prior roles that allowed me to both deliver and assess training and qualifications, I then utilised these skills to work for an Adult Education Provision, which delivered Apprenticeships to the Adult Social Care Sector, where I was delivering training and assessing learners work, as part of their own professional development and undertaking of a qualification.
I was later offered the role of Regional Support Manager at a prominent Care Service provider, overseeing multiple care homes across various locations. Currently, I'm engaged in this position, honing my skills, self-development, and continuous learning.
